Trouble in Terrorist Town

The game is about a group of “terrorists” who have traitors among them, out to kill everyone who’s not a traitor.

Layout

The first initial thought before attempting to come up with a layout of the level, was to analyze previous entries into the gamemode. The most popular maps all featured similar qualities. They were easy to navigate and learn.

I started by creating a general sketch of a center area for the level. Then I added very simple connecting corridors to test the levels initial pacing. Playtesting was done every second day.

After several iterations without any dead ends and many ways to travel around the level, I was satisfied.

Wow factor

After completing the whiteboxing, I felt like the map still needed something to elevate it further. I created a system that allowed me to mimic traitor rooms from Garrys Mod in Counter-strike. This allowed me to tailor the experience further, and balance the level for both teams. This made the map stand out from the masses and introduced a new era for CSGO TTT Maps.

Traitor Only Room

Only accessible by players given the “Traitor” role.

Traitor Traps

The level features two traitor traps.
The first one is a water trap, that drowns the locked in player.

The second one is a vent trap. A metal grate falls down on player caught off guard.

Pacing

The connecting corridors is the foundation of the level.

They are used to traverse quickly between areas, unseen by other players. I designed them to be more simplistic and dark, to indicate a sense of danger.
